For Adults
The BJC Hospice bereavement program provides support to family members of our hospice patients before and after the death. The following services are provided for up to 13 months after the death:
- Support from a social worker prior to the death
- Mailings for the patient’s family or caregiver with information about grief and coping
- Home visits and phone calls from bereavement specialists
- Annual celebration of life services
- Referrals to support services in the community
The following programs are available to hospice families as well as the community:
- Portals: A support group for spouse/partner loss held in St. Peters, Missouri
- Threshold: A support group for spouse/partner loss held in University City, Missouri
- Daybreak: A one-day retreat for couples who have experienced the death of their son or daughter
- Weavings: A weekend retreat for mothers who have experienced the death of a son or daughter
