BJC Hospice provides support and care to adults and children in the final phase of a terminal disease, allowing patients to live with dignity -- as fully and comfortably as possible -- among those who love them.

Patients enter a hospice program when a physician determines the patient has six months or less to live, and there is no longer an attempt to cure the disease. Hospice care neither hastens nor postpones death; rather, it provides symptom management to help the patient feel comfortable and at ease.

BJC Hospice care is centered on the patient and family, and often provided in the home. Care also can be provided in long-term care facilities, assisted living homes and, at times, in the hospital.

A team of BJC Hospice professionals and trained volunteers provide the best medical, emotional, spiritual and bereavement support available to the patient, family and caregivers. Members of our team are on call 24 hours a day.

BJC Hospice was one of the first hospices in the St. Louis region, and the only hospice in the area to provide a pediatric program. Admission to BJC Hospice is based on need rather than ability to pay. Care is provided in areas surrounding St. Louis, Missouri; Alton, Illinois; Sullivan, Missouri; and soon in Farmington, Missouri.
